The downhill discipline has been part of the programme since the first edition of the festival. Big names have already been on the start gate, for example Vali Höll completed her first race in the Rookies Cup here in 2013 or Aaron Gwin celebrated one of his countless victories.

Seit der ersten Ausgabe des Festivals gehört die Disziplin Downhill zum Programm. Große Namen standen schon an der Startlinie, beispielsweise hat Vali Höll hier 2013 ihr erstes Rennen im Rookies Cup absolviert oder aber auch Aaron Gwin einen seiner unzähligen Siege gefeiert.

As always, the first day of the festival in the downhill discipline will be dedicated to young talent. As part of the PROPAIN Rookies Cup, the young talents have the honour of being the first to use the bike park's specially prepared track. There will be another track walk on Thursday before things get serious on Friday. Around 200 children and youngsters will compete in the one-day event.

Wie immer steht der erste Tag des Festivals in der Disziplin Downhill im Zeichen des Nachwuchses. Im Rahmen des PROPAIN Rookies Cup haben die jungen Talente die Ehre, als erstes die extra hergerichtete Strecke des Bikeparks zu nutzen. Bereits am Donnerstag wird es wieder den Track Walk geben, bevor es dann am Freitag Ernst wird. Im Rahmen einer Eintagesveranstaltung gehen circa 200 Kinder und Jugendliche an den Start.

In contrast to the otherwise more relaxed races in the junior series, Winterberg is something special. It starts with the fact that you have to be quick to register, as the limited entries are quickly snapped up. And then there's the packed schedule with training, seeding run and final race all in one day. So you have to be well organised and manage your energy well. But it's worth it, because those who take to the track here will experience a unique racing atmosphere, as it's rare to see a track lined with so many spectators.

Im Gegensatz zu den sonst eher entspannten Rennen der Nachwuchsserie ist Winterberg etwas Besonderes. Los geht es schon, dass man recht schnell bei der Anmeldung sein muss, denn die begrenzten Startplätze sind schnell weg. Und dann ist da noch der vollgestopfte Zeitplan mit Training, Seeding Run und Finallauf an einem Tag. Hier heißt es also, gut organisiert zu sein und seine Kräfte gut einzuteilen. Aber das lohnt sich, denn wer hier auf die Strecke geht, wird eine einzigartige Rennatmosphäre erleben, denn eine mit so vielen Zuschauern gesäumte Strecke gibt es selten.

After the rookies have opened the downhill programme, the iXS Downhill Cup participants will start on Saturday. Big names have been on the list of participants in the past. We are excited to see who will join the long list of the world's elite this time with names like Gee Atherton (GBR), Aaron Gwin (USA), Mick Hannah (AUS), Sam Blenkinsop (NZL), Andrew Neethling (RSA), Marcelo Gutierrez (COL), Brook MacDonald (NZL), Sabrina Jonnier (FRA), Tahnée Seagrave (GBR) and Tracey Hannah (AUS).

The iXS Downhill Cup will deliver plenty of action on the track from Saturday to Monday. So if you have time in between during the festival, you should make your way to the course, because there's always something going on there. Of course, things really get going on Monday for the final, when the prestigious victory in the various classes is at stake. Chainsaw noise and an exuberant atmosphere are guaranteed.

Nachdem dann die Rookies das Downhill-Programm eröffnet haben, geht es am Samstag los für die Teilnehmenden des iXS Downhill Cups. Große Namen standen in der Vergangenheit an der Startlinie. Wir sind gespannt, wer sich diesmal in die lange Liste der Weltelite mit Namen wie Gee Atherton (GBR), Aaron Gwin (USA), Mick Hannah (AUS), Sam Blenkinsop (NZL), Andrew Neethling (RSA), Marcelo Gutierrez (COL), Brook MacDonald (NZL), Sabrina Jonnier (FRA), Tahnée Seagrave (GBR) und Tracey Hannah (AUS) eintragen wird.

Der iXS Downhill Cup wird von Samstag bis Montag jede Menge Action auf der Strecke liefern. Wer also zwischendurch beim Festival mal Zeit hat, sollte den Weg an den Kurs auf sich nehmen, denn dort ist immer etwas los. Natürlich so richtig ab geht es dann am Montag zum Finale, wenn es um den prestigeträchtigen Sieg in den verschiedenen Klassen geht. Kettensägenlärm und ausgelassene Stimmung ist garantiert.

And then there's the VPACE Kids Cup for the very young racers on Saturday. This racing series offers a format for children aged five and over to gain their first competitive experience on a short downhill course. Even though the programme with track walk, training and race is similar to a real race, the focus is always on having fun. In the end, everyone wins, but some also win bronze, silver and gold.

As you can see, the iXS Dirt Masters is not called "Europe's biggest gravity festival" for nothing. In the supreme discipline of downhill cycling alone, almost 900 participants of all ages will compete and deliver a programme worth seeing on all days of the festival.

Und dann gibt es am Samstag noch für die ganz jungen Racer den VPACE Kids Cup. Diese Rennserie bietet bereits ab fünf Jahren ein Format, bei dem auf einer kurzen Downhillstrecke erste Wettbewerbserfahrungen gesammelt werden können. Auch wenn das Programm mit Track Walk, Training und Rennlauf ähnlich der richtigen Rennen angesetzt ist, so steht der Spaß doch immer im Vordergrund. Am Ende gewinnen alle, manche aber eben auch Bronze, Silber und Gold.

Wie man also sehen kann, das iXS Dirt Masters hat nicht umsonst den Beinahmen „Größtes Gravity Festival Europas“. Allein in der Königsdisziplin des Bergab-Radsports gehen knapp 900 Teilnehmende aller Altersklassen an den Start und liefern ein sehenswertes Programm an allen Festivaltagen.
